Here's the Scoop;

As of March 1st, 2008, after 74 years of operation Fassett's Department Store (the five & dime shop) has officially closed its doors; to the residents, neighbors and visitors. From all around this name and location will surely remain an icon...

Now for this building's renewed success, the plan is to renovate the existing 4,000 sq. ft. space keeping to the same use, retail, but even more exciting I will paint the exterior of building and bring to full color the ornate woodwork and decorative metal crown moldings. I still have faith in Mom and Pop shops, but also think, if these shops are going to succeed, prudent and serious merchants must offer quality products at sensible prices, place high value on customer service, and they should not compete with those certain corporate conglomerates often selling inferior products.

When reviewing the applications, favoritism towards shops owners wishing to sell quality goods will take place, certainly most everything sold at Fassett's back in the day was made in the US...

Now this building will be called'Pen Corners' and become a 'collage of mini shoppes', three of which have a predetermined use. We are presently accepting inquiries for Suites # 2, 3, and someone wishing to open an Artisans Shop in Suite # 6. A great wall space for artists looking to show their works will also be available.

I thank and give credit to 'Community Bank & Trust Co.' for their confidence in this project...

Respectfully,
Carl A. Penedos
